Alistair
Dragon Age
No matter their power, their triumphs,
The mage-lords of Tevinter were men
And doomed to die.

The first thing, when you choose your character is that you have three possibilities in races: human, elven or dwarf and then the class: warrior, mage or rouge. Depending on choosing the class, the sub category for races: for human there is distinction between noble and commoner, delish elf, city one (the elf that is a mage, is of magi origins) and a noble dwarf or commoner. Which leads to six different origin stories, as how your character starts and where Duncan recruits them.
Depends on how you answer things, or do things, you gain or lose your party’s favor; now if you want to romance someone, you need to have their favor, and means you have to have their approval. Yes, I am romancing Alistair at the moment, but I intend to try others too when I restart the game. The fun thing is that some of the characters don’t care about the gander so you can romance Zevran with a male character and Leliana with female character. Aside you can have like foursomes: you are together with Leliana, Zevran and Alistair as female or Leliana, Zevran and Morrigan as male. (And this makes us understanding that Origins is not +18 for blood)
You have to be careful when getting companions, because when I started playing I didn’t know that I had to recruit Leliana and Sten in a village – and later it’s impossible to get back there because it was destroyed by darkspawn. Same goes for some objects, before a thing happened, I haven’t spoken to a character and that means I lost the possibility to get Duncan’s shield to gift to Alistair (I’m tempted to use an old save and redo like a huuuuge part of the game I did just to get it; yes my priorities suck).
Anyway the game is set in Ferelden, which I suppose is the “England” of that world, because people from Orlais have French accents, and those from Antiva have Spanish accents (My friend commented that Zevran speaks like Antonio Banderas).
Depending on who and what your character is, you first play your origin story and when you finish it, Duncan takes you over for the joining of the Gray Wardens… you want more? Go play.
